In-room auction take place in the HotLotz saleroom with an auctioneer calling the sale. A lot is considered sold when the auctioneer brings the gavel down. The bidder who has submitted the highest bid wins the lot.
If you haven't already done so, register online as a HotLotz member to get a unique paddle number and access to our auction catalogues to see minimum bid prices and estimates.
In order to place a bid at a In-room Auction, sign in to your HotLotz account and fully complete your 'Member Profile'. This process includes saving your credit card details. Your credit card simply acts as a guarantee for any bid you make.
If you can, attend an auction preview or come to our saleroom early on auction day to see the items first hand. If that's not possible, go onto hotlotz.com to look at our auction catalogue. You can scroll through the lots quickly and easily, use the search function and enlarge the photographs to inspect the lots you are interested in. If you have any questions just send us a message using the 'lot enquiry' button.
When you arrive at the saleroom simply request your unique paddle from a HotLotz staff member. When bidding begins on a lot you are interested in, raise your paddle to make in bid. The auctioneer will call out any bidding increases immediately so you have an opportunity to increase your bid.
You may be bidding against others in the saleroom, bidders on the telephone or those who have placed an absentee bid. The auctioneer will clearly announce when he is bidding on behalf of an absentee bidder.
When the bidding stops, the auctioneer will bring down the gavel and call out your paddle number if you have won the lot.
You can settle your account immediately in the saleroom using cash, cheque or a credit card. We never automatically charge the saved card you use to guarantee your bids.
